Learning Environment

  1. Seek out and implement resources and challenging instruction that encourage and inspire life-long learning.
  2. Create a learning environment that challenges, inspires and is relevant to the student.
  3. Provide a safe and healthy environment for learning where everyone demonstrates respect, responsibility and positive social skills.
  4. Plan and participate in activities that encourage and facilitate good communication.

Community/School/Business
Connection

  1. Create a climate that fosters collaboration and ongoing communication among community, school, and businesses.
  2. Establish partnerships with our community to encourage, support, and involve students in citizen activities and community service.
  3. Encourage community connections to access "expertise" to enrich the learning experience.
  4. Establish partnerships with our community to encourage a successful school-to-work transition.

Standards, Curriculum and Assessment

Using Vermont Framework of Standards

  1. Establish clear standards for all students, ensure that these standards are known to teachers, students, parents and community and to ensure that all involved parties understand their responsibility toward achieving these Standards.
  2. Design, implement, review and update curriculum, standards, and assessment to allow students'to achieve or exceed the standards for a meaningful enriching education.
  3. Develop and use a variety of assessment tools including self- evaluation, which reflect students' learning styles, talents and intelligence and which accurately describe achievements.
  4. Provide ongoing comprehensive assessment of student performance, curriculum and instruction.
  5. Integrate the use of technology to achieve the mission and objectives of the district.
  6. Provide professional development opportunities, which enables all teachers to use effective instructional strategies to achieve the district's mission and objectives.
  7. Report to communities student and school progress on a regular basis.

Decisions/Management/Leadership

  1. CESU Community will annually review and revise the CESU Strategic Plan and communicate its content to all interested parties or to the community.
  2. Use cost-effective practices and seek alternative funding sources.
  3. Identify, define, acquire, and allocate resources for the benefit of all students to enable them to achieve high standards.
  4. Maintain and improve facilities to best support our mission and objectives.
  5. Listen to all interested parties, evaluate what is a balanced representation of ideas for student success in our world, and be consistent and fair in our leadership for student success.

Action Plan

Action plans are developed locally by each school to implement the strategies and meet goals. Action planning coordinated with one or more schools is documented in all of the involved school plans.

Revisions of Strategic Plan

Revisions to the Strategic Plan will be reviewed annually at the CESU Community Forum. Those suggested revisions will go to the Long Range Planning Committee for consideration. If those revisions are recommended, the new revised strategic plan will then be sent to the Executive Committee for final approval for use in the upcoming school year.
